Fox Forgot A.I. Is A Family Show

My 8, 6, and 4 year old children get to stay up until 8 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for next few weeks. This is becuase we love to watch American Idol on Fox as a family. This, however, may have to change because of recent poor decisions by AI and the Fox network.

It was revealed recently that one of the show's top contestants, David Hernandez, was a male stripper in Glendale, AZ. According to the report, David stripped fully nude in a strip club that was frequented by mostly male patrons. The report further claimed that David performed lap dances for many male and female customers. When Fox was asked why David had not been removed from the family show they responded that he had not broke any rules. They indicated that participants in AI could have no past in pornography to be a contestant and that being a stripper was not considered pornographic. Well, I am not sure what is considered when a nude man is dancing on the lap of another man in an effort to arouse the recipient. Not pornography? Are we so closed minded and tolerant that we call only magazines, Internet pages, and certain movies pornographic, but live entertainment is just that - entertainment?

Another contestant, Remiele Malbury, had reports about her as well this week. It seems that she has some lovely nude and suggestive photos on her FaceBook account. Apparently she is sporting some girl-on-girl action in her latest works online. Once again, not pornography? Oh I understand, when nude and suggestive material is on a personal online account, instead of a paid public account, it is not considered pornographic. That makes tons of sense.

So I ask again. Is American Idol a family show anymore? Are we supporting individuals who have participated in societal-degrating actions? I, for one, am not. I voted this week, ALOT! I can assure you that neither David nor Ramiele will receive my vote. EVER! I am sure that I need not worry . . . America will choose well and vote them off soon. Don't you think it is ironic that the leading male and female are from clean, Christian backgrounds and that neither have a history of pornography, or as FOX puts it . . . not really pornography? Go David A. and Brooke W. You got my hundreds of votes!!!

Inspiration Takes Many Forms

An amazing elephant story...

Sometimes I like these heartwarming stories, but this one is truly interesting.

In 1986, Dan Harrison was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Dan approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Dan worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Dan stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.Dan never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Dan was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Dan and his son Dan Jr. were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Dan, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man. Remembering the encounter in 1986, Dan couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Dan summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Dan's legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.
